Peter Hutchinson, a climber, started making down clothing and sleeping bags in 1961 & had a shop in Manchester. Over time this enterprise became Mountain Equipment.

They have always worked closely with outdoor professionals to make sure their gear works and performs in the toughest environments.

Mountain Equipment design, test and built their gear with passion and commitment.

Each decade they have introduced inovative products and in 2011, they have celevrating their 50 years of excellence.
